Empire actor Terrence Howard and his company Universal Bridges are taking 20th Century Fox to court in an attempt to recover around $1.3 million in wages Howard claims he was never paid.
Universal Bridges is run by Terrence Howard’s fiance Mira Howard, back in 2015 Terrane Howard and Mira divorced but have sine reconnected and plan to remarry.
The lawsuit accuses 20th Century Fox of failing to continue paying Terrence Howard through Universal Bridges as agreed in their contract, however, according to Howard he has worked without payment on his last three Empire episodes.
While Terrence Howard believes 20th Century Fox is holding out on his pay, Howard’s ex-wife Michelle Ghent may be the unseen hand responsible for the Empire actor’s stoppage of pay.
Michelle Ghent and Terrence Howard have been entangled in a divorce battle since 2013, 20th Century Fox seems to be caught in the middle of court documents instructing all of Howard’s Checks be sent to Ghent, while also receiving pressure from Howard.
Fox in this instance does not dispute Terrence Howard’s accusations of nonpayment, however, 20th Century Fox would like the courts to make the final decision on who should receive the checks, Howard or his ex-wife, Michelle Ghent.
Michelle Ghent may have the upper hand when all is said and done, she is apparently owed the 1.3 million in unpaid cash to Terrence Howard through the court judgment the two received as a result of their divorce.
For now, 20th Century Fox does not plan on paying Michelle Ghent or Terrence Howard until after the court can decide on exactly who the checks legally should go to.
Terrence Howard will have to bite the bullet for now and continue to show up to work despite not being compensated, but if we see Lucious Lyon go into another unplanned coma, we know why.
