Former Tampa Bay Buccannears Quarterback and free agent quarterback Jameis Winston according to ESPN’s Ian Rapoport is expected to sign a 1 year deal with the New Orleans Saints.
Jameis who was not resigned by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has been looking for a franchise since the beginning of free agency.
As first reported by Charles Robinson of yahoo, Winston’s signing with the Saints won’t guarantee him the backup job and best case scenario may indeed be competing with all around player Taysom Hill.
What’s interesting here is that Taysom Hill was retained this offseason by the Saints, via first rounder tender which is a indicator the franchise may look to move forward with Hill after Brees retires.
Either way, looking forward Jameis will at least get a opportunity to compete for the starting job after Brees heads to NBC. In addition, this allows Jameis to re-up his market value after throwing the first 30 for 30 touchdown to interception ratio in NFL history.
