Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta is making some pretty interesting claims in the wake of COVID19 and its effects on both large and small businesses due to the shutdown of all non-essential activities across American cities.
While men and women in situations similar to the Texas billionaire’s own situation may be breezing by as business and movement remain at a minimum in an effort to thwart the spread of Coronavirus, working people all over the nation are living through what could be described as a nightmare with no end in sight for the lockdown and no work, which means no paychecks.
Tilman Fertitta has the answers, or so he thinks. His plan was simple, lay the workers off as quickly as possible and allow them more time to apply for unemployment benefits.
The logic may be sound if you’re Tilman Fertitta however, many people aren’t buying the billionaire explanation for laying off 45,000 workers sending them to the backed-up phone lines and bogged down website to apply for unemployment.
Tilman Fertitta also went on to say how he is doing quite well during the Coronavirus pandemic, which isn’t very surprising considering the massive amount of businesses owned by Fertitta, his workers, on the other hand, may have a different story to tell regarding life without steady employment as bills continue to mount.
