MJ who spoke with Good Morning America gave us a sneak peak of what we can expect from the docuseries.

Jordan told GMA,

It was a trying year, we all were trying to enjoy that year knowing that it was coming to an end. Phil Jackson started off the year by saying, ‘this is the last dance,’ and we played it that way.”

As you know, this was the second 3 peat, making it 6 championships for MJ, along with 6 finals MVP.

He explains with Good Morning America that the last season of the second 3-peat took a toll on him stating,

“Mentally it just kind of tugged at you throughout the course of the year, you know, but that this had to come to an end but it also centered our focus to making sure we ended it right,”

Furthermore, Jordan elaborated on the start of his career which took place at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill under the late Dean Smith, where he classifies these days as ” The Simpler Times”.

MJ reflects with GMA telling them his mom continually had to send him stamps for mailing purposes, and that he would have to send letters to his mother letting her know what he needed for school, other necessities and that he loved her.

Moreover, under Dean Smith MJ tells GMA

“NO ONE KNEW WHO I WAS”

Mike is speaking in reference to his game winning shot in 1982 against the Patrick Ewing led Georgetown Hoyas.

“Up until that point no one knew who I was — outside the university — I was just known as Mike Jordan,” he said. “And when I hit that shot, my whole name became Michael Jordan. And I think it resonated with a lot of people outside of UNC and I just started piling on that name itself — from the successes that I endured throughout the rest of my career.”
