Mark Chambers has been known to say some controversial stuff, but this one actually got him to resign.
He wasn’t a fan of Nick Saban doing a Black Lives Matter PSA.
Carbon Hill, Alabama, mayor Mark Chambers resigned after drawing backlash for criticizing the Alabama football team’s Black Lives Matter video over Facebook.
According to The Mountain Eagle newspaper in Alabama, Chambers handed in his resignation to the town clerk on a blank piece of paper Saturday that read, “I quit the job of mayor effective June 27 at 4:30 p.m.”
Chambers’ controversial Facebook posts, which he shared on a private page before it was spread publicly over screenshots, saw him respond to the Alabama football program’s video condemning racism, criticizing coach Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide players by writing, “When you put Black lives before all lives they can kiss my (expletive).”
