Ex-Clemson Tigers wide receiver, Kanyton Tuttle, went to Twitter and accused a Clemson football coach of calling one of his teammates the n-word during his days playing at Clemson.
The player who was called the n-word was an ex-Tigers tight end, DJ Greenlee, and the coach in question is Danny Pearman. Greenlee first, confirmed that some of the details in Tuttle’s tweet were accurate, and then explained what all led up to the incident, which wasn’t on some side field away from the rest of the team.
He has tried to apologize once it came to light.
“Three years ago on the practice field, I made a grave mistake involving D.J. Greenlee. I repeated a racial slur I overheard when trying to stop the word from being used on the practice field. What I overheard, I had no right to repeat,” Pearman said in the statement.
This is the first time I’ve heard of something like this, and it’s probably not the only time something like that has happened.
I shall let out a deep, deep sigh.
