In a significant showcase of philanthropy, Kanye West’s manager announced that Kanye West had pledged 2 million dollars in a collection of charitable gestures. Among them was West covering the college tuition of George Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter, Gianna.
West also pledged to cover the legal fees of Floyd’s family as well as the families of Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. Of course, this is following the swarms of protest, social media posts, and overall awareness to the series of police brutality suffered at the hands of Black people in America.
Kanye West has been at odds with much of the Black community in recent years with inflammatory comments regarding slavery and affiliation with Donald Trump.
While it doesn’t change the damage it has caused, this was a generous thing for him to do.
