Melvin Gordon went into last off-season with one goal: to get paid as much as he could by the Los Angeles Chargers. That plan included a holdout that lasted into the regular season, but the plan ultimately backfired, costing Gordon millions and millions of dollars. The plan wasn’t bad, except for the fact that the Chargers had arguably a better, cheaper option in the same backfield.
Again, Gordon got fed some really bad advice.
Gordon ended up exchanging the consistent sunny skies of LA, for the Rocky mountains and high altitude in Denver, in way of a 2 year $16M contract. He won’t have the backfield to his own either, as Phillip Lindsay is still residing in the Mile High City.
All in all, it was a crappy ending for the situation Gordon got himself in, maybe he’s learned his lesson.
Even though the relative low amount of $16M is being paid to Gordon over the next 2 seasons, ex-Bronco, Brandon Stokely, still thinks the team overpaid for the ex-Wisconsin star. Gordon saw the slander, and didn’t take it while laying down.
