The NFL has a strange way of maintaining social order within sports. If endorsing a policy that prevents players from their right to kneel, no one can catch a break if they contract the coronavirus. According to the NFLPA, a memo was sent to agents with descriptive rules and consequences on behalf of players who go beyond measures per ESPN.
Any NFL athlete that engages in risky activities and test positive for the coronavirus will face some form of discipline with potentially not earning their money.
The memo has several high-risk outlines addressing what rules can’t be broken. A few of those are as followed: An indoor house party with more than 15 people, indoor bar with more than 15 people other than to pick up food, indoor music concert and entertainment event with more than 15 people and attending a nightclub with more than 15 people just to name a few.
In the memo, it reads “Clubs/NFL can challenge designation as a football-related injury if it can prove that the player contracted COVID-19 through engaging in high-risk conduct.”
The “ifs” are the very problem that aligns with the assumptions of NFL players possibly contracting the virus. In the NBA, players who decide to leave the bubble and return will immediately go into quarantine and be subjected to nasal swabs for testing. Everyone is human and can’t be contained in one place for so long. The NFL also announced NFL training camps are set to open next week.
The NFL season is scheduled to kick off September 10.
