Video: The Return of Isaac Dogboe; After Two Devastating Losses to Emanuel Navarrete He Tries to Get His Career Back on Track Tonight

It was not long ago that 25-year-old Ghanaian fighter Isaac Dogboe was considered the top dog in the junior featherweight division. He captured the WBO title from a very tough Jessie Magdaleno in 2018 when he overcame a first round knockdown to secure an 11 round stoppage making him AN NEW titleholder.

Isaac Dogboe went on to defend his title versus Hidenori Otake, taking him to a professional career record of 20 wins and no losses. This was until he met BSO’s 2019 Fighter of the Year Emanuel Navarrete in December 2018. The taller, longer Navarrete came into the fight an underdog, and left with the belt.

Dogboe and Navarrete had an immediate rematch, which Navarrete won in more convincing fashion. Since then, Issac Dogboe has not been back in the ring.

But Isaac Dogboe has made some changes, getting rid of his father Paul Dogboe as his trainer and replacing him with Freddie Roach. After a short month, Isaac Dogboe and Roach parted ways, and he has now found a good fit in trainers Barry Hunter and Patrice Harris.

Dogboe hasn’t been in the ring since that second loss to Emanuel Navarrete in May 2019 and after 14 months out of the ring, is looking to show that he still has what it takes to be a champ.

Dogboe will face Chris Avalos, 27-7, in an 8-round matchup. The two will meet at featherweight, and not the junior featherweight division where Dogboe fought previously.

Does Isaac Dogboe have what it takes to dig deep and revive his career? Tune in tonight from the bubble in Las Vegas on ESPN.
