Damian Lillard Tells Critics To Put Some Respect On Carmelo Anthony’s Name

“It’s obvious to somebody like me that he pays attention to everything. I find it real funny and disrespectful how people speak on him. He’s a Hall of Famer,” Damian Lillard said about Portland Trailblazers forward Carmelo Anthony per ESPN.

Anthony has been regarded as one of the most lethal scorers to ever grace the NBA hardwood since his arrival in the NBA in 2003. Anthony was cut in November of 2018 by the Houston Rockets and sat the entire season out with rosters content with the guys they had.

It was Portland that gave Anthony a chance to not only revive his career but show critics why he belonged in the NBA. Clutch is a term that comes to mind when you think of guys like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Reggie Miller. As for Anthony, he was able to prove his value during a 150-135 OT win over the Memphis Grizzlies last Friday. Anthony nailed two needed three-pointers in the fourth quarter as the tempo of the game was in favor of Portland to take the lead.

With a two-point lead over the Houston Rockets on Tuesday, Anthony hit a clutch three-pointer with 54 seconds on the clock in the fourth quarter. The Portland Trailblazers were up by five and defeated the Houston Rockets 110-102.

Like Lillard, he knows it all too well having to prove yourself why you belong when people count you out. The Portland Trailblazers will take on the Denver Nuggets as they’re in the race to gain the 8th seed in the western conference from the Memphis Grizzlies.
