Alvin Kamara is in line for a new deal, and he’s using his absences at training camp to make his wishes well known.
Kamara has outproduced his rookie contract, to say the least. The ex-2nd round pick out of Tennessee, has gained at least 1,300 yards from scrimmage during the first 3 seasons of his career, all while basically splitting carries with Mark Ingram for 2 of those years, before Ingram left to join Baltimore last off-season.
Kamara is an elite offensive weapon most NFL teams would love to have, which makes it all the more important the Saints lock him up for the foreseeable future. With Drew Brees approaching retirement, it’d be wise of the Saints to aggressively hold on to Kamara, and make the transition as smooth as possible for the next QB1.
However, with Kamara going through a supposed “holdout”, he could end up losing more than what he hopes to gain.
