Kevin Durant is collecting his NBA dollars after the Brooklyn Nets clinched a playoff spot on Friday. According to Bobby Marks of ESPN, Durant earned a $1 million bonus to his contract although he’s recovering from an Achilles injury he suffered in the 2019 NBA Finals.
Durant hasn’t suited up in a Nets jersey since his announcement to join Kyrie Irving in New York. Only summer videos of his workouts shooting in a gym surfaced online convinced people to believe he was on a speedy recovery to return this year. Marks also reported Durant’s $40.1 million cap hit won’t be affected by the bonus.
With a 33-36 record, the Nets have a young group of guys with two NBA champions sidelined and no expectations to come out the East. Those odds easily could’ve changed had both Durant and Irving returned to play as the Nets are ranked the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference. It would be shocking if the Nets eliminated the Toronto Raptors who are the defending NBA champions in the first round with their two all-stars out. Hypothetically speaking, it’s not possible since Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet and Pascal Sikkim are leading the Raptors in scoring this season.
As far as who might win the title this year, check the review of sports betting at Bovada Casino where you will see that the NETS are heavy underdogs with the Lakers being the favorites at this time. Sports betting is available at Bovada Casino and bettors can bet on their favourite NBA match.
Next year with everyone fully healthy, this team will be dangerous with its shooters, playmakers, and offensive sniper in Durant who can easily average 30 points per game night. This will be something for the haters to stress over since he’s proven he’s worth his contract and ever penny.
