The NFL and Electronic Arts have unveiled a new format for the Madden NFL 21 championship. Along with weekly sports entertainment programming and revamped tournament offerings, the two giants will be adding athletes, celebrities, and leading Madden NFL players to their streamed lineup on Tuesday nights. Here’s everything you want to know about the newly formatted Madden Championship Series.
Competition Overview
The Madden NFL 21 Championship is an online tournament that narrows down to a single championship representing each NFL team. That means 32 players will be left to battle it out after whittling the field, competing for the largest club championship prize pool of $150 for the first position, and $750,000 in the MCS.
While most Esports betting enthusiasts are happy about the prospects of wagering on the series, there will be several key differences this year. One of the main differences this year is that the Club Championship will be played with full MUT squads and not based on Salary Cap as in previous years.
Club Championship Key Dates
The online qualification round is expected to end on 12th October, after starting earlier in August. That will be followed by the online elimination round, expected to start on 19th October and end on 2nd November.
NFC/AFC Division Shows will be staged from 10th November to 22nd December, with AFC Championships starting from 21st to 22nd January. NFC Championship will soon follow from 28th to 29th January, while the Madden Club Championship will start from 4th to 5th February.
Madden Championship Official Rules
The competitors in Madden 21 Championship are expected to act per common standards of social conventions, morals, and decency. These requirements apply to online, offline, and live interactions in the MCS and outside, including social media conduct during events and live streams.
Match data and the leaderboard will be audited for various things, including cheating and malicious behavior. Failure to comply with the rules of conduct or the user agreement will make a competitor get disqualified from the MCS. Some of the behaviors expressly prohibited during the MCS include:
- Competitors watching or listening to video streams of their own matches during games.
- Intentionally disconnecting the internet during matches.
- Disorderly behavior like threats, harassment, and use of profane language online.
- Fighting or physically abusing spectators, competitors, and other people.
- Taking advantage of a game’s known exploits.
- Soliciting or accepting bribes
- Gambling or betting on the games’ outcomes.
Rule Enforcement and Penalties
Violating the official rules and regulations set by EA will result in disqualification, penalties, change in match results, and loss of winner status. All EA rulings and decisions related to the MCS will be final and binding. That means EA has the right to penalize competitors at any level of the competition.
The penalties include verbal warning, a five-yard penalty, loss of procession, automatic game loss, and disqualification from the event. However, EA will announce the winners online within two days of confirming the winners.
