2003 NBA champion Stephen Jackson calls out anyone rather they like it or not. In a video on social media, Jackson called out NBA on TNT analyst Charles Barkley who is known for coming at black folks even when white supremacy is at the root of the issue.
“Here you go again man with the same clowning. Let me tell you this man…that’s an insult to Breonna family. Breonna is in the same category with George Floyd..my twin…because they was murdered by police,” Jackson said.
“So for you to get up on TV and say all that clown s***you said just because you got a platform, you looking real weak by the day.”
Jackson described Chuck as insensitive along with having no heart because he can’t see the real issue at hand. In the black community, there is an issue with self-accountability and the hopes of white responsibility. Some blacks might feel Taylor’s boyfriend put her life in danger which ties into self-actions. Others look past it because of the violated rights by law enforcement who can murder a woman and not get charged.
Jackson is one of few former athletes who will speak up and act on behalf of the black community. However, there are many blacks out there in the entertainment world that plays the part to look apart.
Vice News obtained documents and video footage which showed Louisville officers violating policies within the department leading up to the death of Breonna Taylor. Unfortunately, injustice was served as justice and sparked chaos across the states.
Let’s look at the life of Malcolm X who was assassinated in 1965. This real leader warned us about “so called” leaders yet his philosophy is taken for granted in times like this.
When you look at Barkley along with black public figures such as Candace Owens, Ray Lewis, Jason Whitlock, Steve Harvey, Kanye West or any black-figure speaking on issues pertaining to injustice, these are the people society thinks of. Jackson is as blunt as they come and will defend his own even if he catches hell for it. Despite Jackson’s professional NBA career, he validated Charles’ leadership is ignorance and his opinion only serves him well. This is the same Barkley who remained seated when Kenny Smith decided to leave off the TNT set because of the Jacob Blake shooting. The only two rappers the black community can vouch for who opposed injustice within their careers since the late 80s’ early 90s’ would be former NWA Hip Hop legend Ice Cube and the iconic 2 Pac.
