Eric Bieniemy- Offensive Coordinator, Kansas City Chiefs
Bieniemy’s name has been linked to numerous coaching jobs across the country during the past year or so. He was, and still is a rising head coaching candidate, a man that truly deserves a chance to lead a team after the work he and Andy Reid have done so far in Kansas City.
We’re all familiar with the success Kansas City has had with Patrick Mahomes, and the elite arsenal of offensive firepower the Chiefs have spent a lot of time assembling.
Most credit would immediately go to Reid, and that’s fine. Reid is one of the more respected, and intelligent head coaches in all of football. His offense is completely tailor made for the gunslinging Mahomes, and he’s found a way to turn that strong armed, raw prospect out of Texas Tech, into the best quarterback the NFL has to offer today.
But lost in all the Reid/Mahomes talk, is that Bieniemy had his hands in the Mahomes development process as well. Reid respects his friend, and current offensive coordinator as a great deal.
“You guys know how I feel about Eric,” Reid said previously about Bieniemy, “I think he’d be tremendous. There’s a team out there — I don’t know the team, but there’s a team out there — that could really use him. Being the leader of men that he is, you’re not going to find people better than that in that category. And he’s a sharp offensive mind on top of that. So I’m a big fan. Don’t want to lose him, but reality is, there’s a good chance that happens.”
It isn’t just Reid who loves Bieniemy either, Mahomes as well recognizes the work Bieniemy puts in, and has absolutely nothing bad to say about him.
“When you get a guy like EB, who puts in the time, who is a great leader of players and men and somebody that can really control and have a presence in any room he walks in, you understand why these other teams are looking at him to be their head coach,”

Bieniemy’s snub from last year’s coaching carousel was nothing short of wrong. Giving him a shot to work with Deshaun Watson, along with working to get the Texans’ roster back in order, should be something the Texans have to consider.
