Video: Why Michael Jordan Believes LaMelo Ball Will Be The Player That Finally Puts The Hornets Back On The Map

LaMelo Ball on Wednesday night was selected No. 3 in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets.

By far…he’s the most exciting player in this draft and has an advantage James Wiseman and Anthony Edwards lack.

The advantage is the greatest NBA player of all-time in his corner known as Michael Jordan. Hornets owner Jordan understands the game and because he was pure scorer who won six NBA championships, some techniques will be given to elevate Ball.

Ball has the potential to uplift this franchise and unlike former Hornets guard Kemba Walker, Ball’s leadership is questionable.

Because Ball can shift defenders and has a quick shot release, Jordan will look to polish his footwork to make him become more efficient. Iso scorers such as Harden could take 28 shots per game but if Ball does the same missing shots, he’ll be compared to his older brother Lonzo Ball.

It’ll be important for Ball to pick his spots in Iso while driving and finishing at the rim.

Ball is a high-volume scorer who played professional basketball in the NBL for the Illawarra Hawks. He averaged 17 points, 7.6 rebounds and 6.9 assists. Those numbers are solid and the potential 2021 NBA Rookie of the year candidate will be the franchise player to lead.

Ball has upside, can split through defenders and control his ball-handling in traffic. His shot is unorthodox to an extent but Ball can shoot off the dribble and make flashy passes to the open man.

Never underestimate Jordan’s greatness. The Hornets needed a crafty scorer like Ball who can become unstoppable if he’s consistent.

The Hornets finished last season with a 23-42 record as the No. 9 seed in the Eastern Conference. If Ball turns out to be what we know the player he’s capable of, the Hornets might grab the No. 8 seed depending on which teams are in the hunt for the playoffs.
