Malcolm Brogdon and the term leadership go hand in hand after he was announced earlier today the recipient of the 2019-20 Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award.
“Brogdon was one of five finalists for the 2019-20 J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award, along with Milwaukee Bucks guard Jrue Holiday (who played for New Orleans Pelicans in 2019-20), Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Josh Okogie and Atlanta Hawks head coach Lloyd Pierce. The finalists were chosen by a committee of PBWA members from nominees submitted by NBA teams. The winner was determined by a vote of the entire PBWA, which is composed of more than 200 writers and editors who cover the NBA regularly for newspapers, magazines and online news outlets,” the PBWA confirmed.
Since the NBA crowned a new champion, Brogdon became a winner off the court with his efforts geared towards social injustice, voter reform, gender, education and health equality.
This award is perfect because Brogdon embodies consistency and values helping the lives of others who might have a disadvantage at their disposal.
Brogdon spoke with BSO about the 2020-21 NBA season and why the Indiana Pacers are a team that should be taken serious if 100 percent.
“I think the sky is the limit for this team. We have an incredibly well-rounded roster. We have a strong starting five at every position, a guy that can go out and get 20 plus points any night and then we also have one of the best defending bigs in the league if not the very best.”
Brogdon also alluded to teammate T.J Warren’s scoring that shocked the world last season in the NBA bubble.
“We have a guy in T.J Warren that I think is one of the most pure talented scorers in the league.”
The Pacers will open the pre-season on Dec. 12 visiting the Cleveland Cavaliers at 7: p.m. EST.
