Former Seattle Seahawks offensive tackle Chad Wheeler and his legal team have clearly lost their rabbit ass minds. He entered a plea of not guilty to first-degree domestic violence assault, domestic violence unlawful imprisonment, and resisting arrest.
Mental health is as important as ever but not an excuse for the savagery that occurred on January 22nd. I’m quite sure his mental state will be used as the defense in this trial. It has been reported that Wheeler suffers from bi-polar disorder and was having an unprovoked “manic episode” when he attacked his girlfriend for not bowing to him in reverence. As a result of the attack, the victim was left with a fractured humerus, dislocated elbow and vomited large amounts of blood among other injuries.
What happened to the profuse apology? What happened to the woman’s care being the most important thing?
And why the hell haven’t we seen a mug shot?
Wheeler has a case-setting hearing scheduled for Feb. 11, according to a spokesperson with the King County prosecutor’s office.
The woman appeared in court with her left arm in a sling. A representative read a statement on her behalf in which she restated details from the incident and said she does not feel safe as long as Wheeler is out of custody. The woman objected to Wheeler’s request that he be allowed to stay at his home in Hawai’i — the defense said he does not have a residence in Washington other than the apartment he shared with the woman — and said that Wheeler staying in Los Angeles would be her preference if he is not in jail.
Plies was right.
