The dreams we’ve all had of a Friday sequel are all but dead. Creator of the cult classic, Ice Cube, shed some light on the subject on his Instagram account.
Using the hashtag #freefriday and featuring a cartoon image of the main characters, Cube says that Warner Bros. refuses to make sequels of the wildly popular movie.
“#freefriday from the jaws of Warner Bros. who refuses to make more sequels. They have hi-jacked the happiness of the culture.”
Cube doesn’t give a reason for Warner Bros’ lack of interest in releasing the film and it doesn’t really make sense due to the film’s popularity.
Also, it should be noted that Cube doesn’t have the rights to his own film. This is a very similar situation to Dave Chappelle and the Chappelle Show where he had to get people to boycott the show until they gave him the rights back.
