Jose Ramirez vs Josh Taylor – May 22, ESPN
One Word. Undisputed. It’s not often that we get a King of a Division. One man standing at the top reigning over all of the others. And with this fight, we get that opportunity. Jose Ramirez, 26-0, holds the WBC and WBO titles and Josh Taylor, 17-0, holds the WBA and IBF titles. This matchup is for all the belts.
Both men walk in undefeated. Both walk in with two belts. Only one man will walk out the champ.
Canelo Alvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders – May 8, DAZN
The pound for pound king is stepping in the ring for the third time in 6 months. Last year, Canelo Alvarez expressed his intent to become undisputed at 168 and Billy Joe Saunders currently holds the WBO title, making him a necessary opponent on his path to undisputed. Billy Joe Saunders presents a style that will make things a little more difficult for Canelo than some of his recent opposition, but can he pull off the upset?
Jose Zepeda vs Pedro Campa – May 22, ESPN
The last time Jose Zepeda was in the ring, he gave us the fight of the year versus Ivan Baranchyk. This all-out war had a total of 8 knockdowns between the two fighters, with Zepeda eventually knocking Baranchyk out cold in the 5th. If that last fight is the measuring stick for what to expect from Zepeda, its worth tuning in to see how he matches up with Pedro Campa (32-1-1).
Luis Nery vs Brandon Figueroa – May 15, Showtime
This is an interesting fight because Luis Nery will defend his WBC title against Brandon Figueroa, and the winner is already scheduled for a unification bout against WBO titleholder Stephen Fulton in September. Luis Nery is 31-0, and Brandon Figueroa is 21-0-1. Somebody’s -0 has got to go. And Stephen Fulton will be waiting for the winner.
