The footage has finally been obtained of a deadly and brutal arrest of a black man who led Louisiana State Troopers on a high-speed car chase. This footage is of the man’s last moments alive as reported by The Associated Press who obtained after authorities refused to release it for two years.
I’m your brother! I’m scared! I’m scared!” Ronald Greene can be heard telling the white troopers as the unarmed man is jolted repeatedly with a stun gun before he even gets out of his car along a dark, rural road.
The 2019 arrest of Ronald Greene outside Monroe, Louisiana, is subject to a civil rights investigation but unlike previous cases, little is known about the case as a whole.
Louisiana officials have denied multiple calls to release footage and details on the 49-year-olds and initially told Greenes family he died on impact after his car crashed into a tree.
The 46-minute clip shows one trooper wrestling Greene to the ground, putting him in a chokehold and punching him in the face, while another can be heard calling him a “stupid motherf——.”
This is a very brutal arrest and the fact that most of the information wasn’t known till now is crazy within of itself.
Instead of helping Ronald, troopers left him moaning in pain while they cleaned the blood off themselves with sanitizing wipes.
“I hope this guy ain’t got f—— AIDS,” one of the troopers can be heard saying
“They murdered him. It was set out, it was planned,” Greene’s mother, Mona Hardin, said Wednesday. “He didn’t have a chance. Ronnie didn’t have a chance. He wasn’t going to live to tell about it.”
The Louisiana State Police Department declined to comment on the contents of the video. In a statement, the agency said the “premature public release of investigative files and video evidence, in this case, is not authorized and … undermines the investigative process and compromises the fair and impartial outcome.”
There is so much information involved in this report from the AP. This case was barely known about by the public for years so there is a lot to unpack and we will keep you updated and posted on any news on the case.
