Fans are going to learn to stop messing with Washington Wizards guard Russell Westbrook. A $100 million lawsuit filed by a Utah Jazz fan has been dismissed in court.
Shane Keisel, the fan who harrassed Westbrook during a 2019 OKC Thunder game against the Utah Jazz, filed a $100 million lawsuit against Westbrook and the Jazz claiming he was painted as a racist homophobe because of the incident. He received a lifetime ban from Jazz games and alleges he was fired from his job, kicked out of a pilot training program, and received death threats because of the incident.
At the time of the altercation video surfaced of Westbrook telling a fan, “I’ll f*ck you up, you and your wife, I’ll fuck you up.”
When asked about the confrontation Westbrook said that he heard Keisel tell him, “Get down on your knees like you use to.” Keisel alleges he suggested that Westbrook should sit down and ice his knees.
Either way, Keisel tried to use the incident to score a payday but the judge wasn’t having it.
