In what many and most expected this fight, if you would like to even call it that, went the way most thought. Paul came out strong wailing but got gassed early on and Floyd lead the rest of the way. Just to emphasize how much this fight was legal robbery, Pickswise conducted a study to look at some of the most lucrative fights in boxing and worked out how much cash was earned per punches landed by both competitors revealing Paul earned a minimum of $8,929 per punch in his exhibition bout against Floyd Mayweather, while Floyd earned a whopping $232,558 per punch landed.
Paul managed to land 28 punches against one of the greatest boxers of all time. That means he got a guaranteed purse of $250,000 and that figure will likely be a lot higher once the PPV buys come in.
While the 44-year-old Mayweather made a ton of this fight.
Mayweather threw 107 punches, and Paul doubled that with 217. There wasn’t t any announced winner As you know, no winner was declared as the Florida State boxing commission didn’t officially sanction the fight due to the large disparity in size and experience level.
“He’s better than I thought he was,” Mayweather said of Paul after the bout. “… I was surprised by him tonight. Good work. Good little guy.”
Mayweather was asked if he would do another exhibition fight, fight again, Floyd emphatically said no.
