When you think you’ve heard it all, think again. According to a story done by the NY Daily News, an Illinois man has been sentenced to four years in prison after posing for a selfie with his girlfriend and accidentally fired the gun killing his girlfriend.
Isaiah Cole, 20, killed his girlfriend A’Meyah Brewton, 21, on Sept. 13, 2020, as they snapped photos at his home in Gurnee, about 35 miles north of Chicago.
Authorities said Cole had thought he removed all bullets from the handgun before “inadvertently” reloading the weapon where he fired one shot that proved fatal.
Cole took a deal in which he pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and a drug charge in exchange for the four-year sentence, the Tribune reported. Prosecutors also dropped other drug-related counts.
Authorities say Cole was under the influence of marijuana at the time of the shooting. Cops also found meth in his house.
