The NBA Draft Lottery was last night and for half the league, we finally found out where they would be drafting.
One team in particular, the Thunder, who have 3 first round picks in the 2021 draft had maybe the most at stake for the night. For the fans and the franchise, it’s been nerve racking trying to figure out if they will have the 1st pick, will they have 2 top 5 picks, or will they be upset if they land outside of the top 5.
Now we know.
The Thunder weren’t lucky and landed the 6th pick in the draft and to make things worse the Rockets pick landed at 2 and their pick was top 4 protected so they won’t be getting that either.
The good news is that this is a very talented draft and the Thunder can still get a really good player.
Barring something miraculous happening, the Thunder won’t be drafting Cade Cunningham, Evan Mobley, Jalen Green, or Jalen Suggs with the 6th pick. Those 4 guys seem to be locks for being gone by then.
The Thunder also could package their picks, which they will have 6, 16, and 18, plus having 15 1st round picks after this years’ draft, to move up into the top 5 so anything is possible but for now they will stay at those 3 first round picks.
Here are the guys the Thunder should be looking at with those picks.
