Last night, the Montreal Canadiens knocked the Las Vegas Golden Knights out of the Western Conference Finals in six games. They were able to do this in six games, on their home ice, and are now back in the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in 28 seasons.
Shortly after the victory though, tons of Canadiens fans started to act recklessly in Montreal, as they started to riot in the downtown area, as a way to celebrate, according to TMZ Sports. Fireworks were lit, fans were fighting, and even a police car was damaged in the process. That car ended up being flipped over, too.
It came to a point where tear gas had to be used by police, resulting in 15 people getting arrested. 60 people ended up being cited as well. The madness escalated to where people inside Bell Centre had to stay inside the venue until things were cleared.
The Canadiens will face the Thunder or Islanders in the Stanley Cup Finals. Game 7 between those two teams is tonight, in Tampa. Flip the page for the riots in Montreal, following the Canadiens Game 6 win in the Western Conference Finals.
