Everyone remembers how much Ben Simmons underperformed in the Eastern Conference Semis vs the Hawks. He couldn’t hit shots, free throws, and was nervous to take big shots in general, such as a wide open layup late in Game 7. The Sixers have reportedly been putting him on the trade market lately, as he also supposedly ghosted them after Philly’s season ended.
Now, it looks like Simmons is open to being traded. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, he and his agent, Rich Paul are “in step” regarding being moved. This could go down on draft night, but maybe down along towards the end of the summer as well.
The Spurs have been rumored to be involved in a trade for Simmons, too. Reports have surfaced that Philly has a very high asking price here, which is four first-round draft picks, three pick swaps, and a young player. Simmons was an all-star this year, but didn’t play like one at all in the postseason. It will be hard for a team to agree to this kind of trade, but we will see how this plays out this summer.
Simmons can now hang out with Maya Jama in peace until the trade is completed.
