Jaxson Hayes wrapped up his second season in the NBA with the Pelicans, but is now getting into some serious legal trouble. This involves a recent incident in the early hours of Wednesday morning, where he got into an altercation with a cop.
According to TMZ, Hayes pushed this officer into a wall, and also resisted arrest for over two and a half minutes. The cop was initially called to the scene due to a “domestic dispute.” The altercation went down in his front yard, as it was very difficult to finally get the center in handcuffs.
Cops on the scene tried to speak with Hayes, but he kept trying to go back inside the home. He refused to stay outside, and that’s when Hayes reportedly pushed an officer into a wall. It took two officers to get Hayes onto the ground, but he continued to resist, and even tried to stand up.
A taser was also used twice, in the process of trying to get Hayes into the handcuffs. He was eventually arrested for resisting arrest, and was soon treated at a local hospital for “injuries sustained during the altercation.” The officer who was pushed to the wall was also treated for injuries. Jail time is also reportedly on the table for Hayes, should he be convicted on any charges.
