Cryptocurrency is starting to become more hot than ever, as many people are starting to use that as their form of payments. Now, Saquon Barkley is beginning to do the same as well.
A few days ago, the Giants running back announced that he is converting his income made from marketing deals and endorsements, into Bitcoin. This will be done using the Strike app. He cited that you can’t “save wealth.”
“We’re seeing inflation and we’re learning you can’t save wealth. That’s why I am going to be taking my marketing money in bitcoin,” said Barkley to Anthony Pompliano on the “The Best Business Show.”
Barkley added that this move is the “smart thing to do,” when it comes to making sure he remains wealthy. He added that his salary alone wont’t create generational wealth.
“When you see the KDs, the Lebrons and Bradys of the world and you want to create generational wealth, you can’t do that with the sport that I play and the position that I play and coming off of injuries,” Barkley said.
Barkely tore his ACL last season, and now, is looking to return to being one of the most dominant RBs in the NFL again. Many expect that the Giants could win the NFC East this season as well.
He, of course, is wrong about generational wealth. Even if he just fulfills his current contract he would have made close to $40 million just in the NFL even once you factor tax into the situation if you are smart with your money it can last for multiple generations. It is easier to take a gamble on Bitcoin when you already have that type of money in the bank.
