The Arizona Cardinals drafted linebacker Zaven Collins out of Tulsa, with the 16th overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft. Collins was arrested after speeding last month, in Scottsdale, and now, footage of this incident is surfacing.
Collins is seen pleading with cops not to arrest him, as he was said to have been going 76MPH in a 35MPH zone.
“I know you could scold my ass, and I know you could really, really help me out and, just — please, sir! Nah, I was not going that fast,” before adding, “I apologize.”
Collins told cops that he plays for the Cardinals but that, unfortunately, didn’t help his situation there. They told him that he would be arrested for excessive speed and reckless driving.
“There’s no reason for this,” Collins added. “Are you serious? I’ve been cool. I’ve been chill. Can you please? Please, sir. I know I sped a little bit, sir. I’m just saying, can you help, like, please? Just show a little bit of love. Please. God bless. Please.”
Collins ended up being put in the police car, and was soon charged with one count of exceeding the speed limit and one count of reckless driving. He has a hearing scheduled for next month.
They could have cut him some slack, he wasn’t drunk. Just give the man a ticket and leave him be.
