Many remember back in 2010, how former NBA player Lorenzen Wright was found dead, in Memphis. He was shot to death, as he was found in a field. It took years for any arrests to be made, but in 2017, Wright’s wife, Sherra was arrested in 2017, in addition to another man.
Ms. Wright ended up pleading guilty in 2019, and was hit with a 30-year sentence. Prosecutors, in this case, came out, stating that she may have committed the murder in order to get a $1 million life insurance payout. She blew through the money and now, is looking for this case to be thrown out, according to Baller Alert.
Ms. Wright filed a petition last spring claims that she was forced to confess to this murder. This is after being “worn down” by guards in jail. Female guards allegedly beat her on a “nightly basis.” She also supposedly feared for her children’s lives in this situation. There was no denial of killing Lorenzen, though.
Ms. Wright also was supposed to appear in front of a judge in Memphis on Tuesday, but her attorney did not arrive. That ended up resulting in the hearing being adjourned.
Wright played 13 years in the NBA, as he played for the Clippers, Hawks, Grizzlies, Kings, and Cavaliers, from 1996-2009.
