The Lions have been making preseason roster cuts, and it just got easier for them, when it comes to Cornerback, Alex Brown. According to Justin Rogers of the Detroit News, Brown got into a car crash on Sunday morning, where he was driving on the wrong side of a highway.
There, Brown was with former Lions tight end Charlie Taumoepeau. Taumoepeau ended up suffered a neck injury, and was transported to a nearby hospital. Another person was in the car, who also sustained injuries.
Brown has four charges against him in total. These have been revealed as two counts of operating while under the influence causing serious injury and two counts of reckless driving causing serious injury, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.
The Lions have since released a statement on this car crash, and how he was waived from the team.
“We are aware of the situation from Sunday morning involving Alex Brown. “Alex was waived from the team Sunday afternoon and Charlie Taumoepeau is receiving proper medical care following injuries sustained from the incident. Driving under the influence is a matter we take very seriously. We, as an organization, extend our thoughts and support to the victim and his family during his recovery.”
Brown previously played with the Chiefs, from 2019-2020. He also had brief practice squad stints with the 49ers, Eagles, and Jets, in 2019.
