The Mets continue to crumble, as they are third in the NL East and seven back of first place, as the Braves currently stand in first place, with a five-game lead on the Phillies. The unfortunate news is now surfacing out of Citi Field, the Mets’ home in Queens, NY.
According to the NYPD to CNN, a man was found dead at the ballpark after falling from the second level of the venue. The incident was described as the man “suffering from injuries consistent with a fall from an elevated position.” This incident may have been during the Dead & Company concert two days ago.
The man ended up being listed as in critical condition, as he was treated at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Queens. It was later announced that he succumbed to his injuries.
“We are aware of a tragic incident which sadly resulted in a fatality last night,” said Harold Kaufman, a New York Mets spokesperson, to CNN. “Our deepest and heartfelt condolences go out to the attendee’s loved ones.”
At this point, it’s unclear what caused this man to suffer the fall at Citi Field. A 911 call was initially placed close to 9:05 PM after the incident took place.
