One of the bigger stories these past few weeks has been producer and rapper Dr. Dre’s oldest daughter LaTanya Young, who admitted she is broke and lives out of a rental car which she uses to do DoorDash and UberEats. She also claims that she no longer receives financial support from Dre. The news broke, dividing many on social media. Some agree that her father, with the number of resources he has, should support his oldest daughter, while others say he already gave her money in the past, and she shouldn’t rely on Dre since she is a grown woman. LaTanya was not waiting to get an answer from her dad and has launched a GoFundMe after revealing her financial struggles last week.
The 38-year-old mother of four claimed her father had not provided financial support in 18 months despite Dre having a reported net worth of $800 million.
LaTanya launched the GoFundMe seeking to raise $50,000. The campaign’s description reads,
“This fundraiser is to help Latanya and her four kids find a safe and stable home. She is currently working at DoorDash to keep afloat and these funds will be deeply appreciated. Thank you so much.”
LaTanya spoke with Daily Mail to explain she is not looking for handouts with her GoFundMe but appreciates any support.
“I think GoFundMe campaigns are for people in desperate situations and I’m in a desperate situation,” she told the Daily Mail. “Some people were in awe of what I am going through and asked if I had a GoFundMe. I really don’t want to accept any handouts but I appreciate anything that is offered. I have worked all my life and I know how to work for money but I’m in a difficult place right now. I believe in investing in your kids. That’s what I want to do for my kids so they are never in a position like I am right now.”
As of writing this, LaTanya has raised $665 so far, and with the media coverage surrounding this story, you can expect donations to be flowing in.
