Isiah Thomas on Why There Wouldn’t Have Been a Malice at the Palace if He Would Have Still Been The Head Coach

Malice At The Palace is an extraordinary documentary streaming on Netflix which spoke on the brawl between the Detroit Pistons and the Indiana Pacers.

Two-time NBA champion and Bad Boy Piston Isiah Thomas chimed in on what he felt could’ve happened had been coaching the Pacers.

“I was the coach that (Rick) Carlisle replaced,” Thomas said. “Had I not got fired, I believe I’d have won a championship with that team. I don’t believe there would’ve been a Malice at the Palace, because I don’t believe the Pistons fans would’ve acted that way with me coaching that team,” per the IndyStar.

Thomas was let go by the Pacers in 2003 by then-team president Larry Bird.
