Final roster cuts are being made for NFL teams, as there are less than two weeks until Week 1 of the 2021 season. Teams are also figuring out how many of their players are fully vaccinated against COVID.
Jaguars Head Coach Urban Meyer recently said that his squad had made roster cut considerations based on vaccination status. He labeled it as something that was a “decision-maker.”
”Everyone was considered,” Meyer said to the media. “That was part of the production and also was he vaccinated or not. To say that was a decision-maker, it certainly was under consideration.”
According to ProFootballTalk, the NFLPA is investigating these comments by Meyer. This is due to vaccination status not being something that determines employment in the NFL.
“These comments have led us to open an investigation,” said NFLPA spokesman George Atallah to PFT in text messages. Some players have been very outspoken about these vaccine requirements, such as Bills WR Cole Beasley. In the end, though, teams have to do what they have to do to prevent COVID outbreaks and get back to normal.
