The NCAA finally decided to let their players profit off of their name and likeness this year, and many have already begun collaborating with brands and cashing in in big ways. This is the case for high school QB Quinn Ewers, the number one prospect for the class of 2022.
Ewers recently said that he wouldn’t be playing at Southlake Carroll High due to the state of Texas not allowing him to cash in on his NIL. That immediately played into his decision to enroll at Ohio State ASAP.
“Over the past few weeks, following Texas’ UIL informing me I would be prohibited from profiting off of my own name, image and likeness, I’ve taken time to think about what lies ahead of me, both in the short- and long-term,” Ewers explained on Twitter. “It’s unfortunate I’ve found myself in this situation, as my preference would have been to complete my senior season at Southlake Carroll along with the teammates and friends I’ve taken the field alongside for the past three years. However, following conversations with my family and those I know have my best interests in mind, I’ve decided it’s time for me to enroll at Ohio State and begin my career as a Buckeye.”
According to TotalProSports, Ewers is getting a big payday for sure. He recently signed a deal with GT Sports Marketing, which is worth $1.4 million. He is also said to have received a Ford F-250 Tremor, which is worth $50,000.
