Shaq has always been one of the most likable and adored athletes of all time. He was one of the best NBA players ever to do it and always dominated in his prime. He also created his own sneakers, which are very affordable for people who can’t afford the usual high-priced Jordan sneakers, designer brands, etc.
Shaq appeared on the Full Send Podcast this week, and this was one of the topics discussed. He revealed that a woman went off on him back in the day about how much the Reeboks cost that he was going to wear. Then, Shaq was going to sign a $40 million sneaker endorsement deal with the brand.
“My best story is…I had a Reebok deal, $40M for 5 and I’m leaving the arena one day and this lady and ripping me a new (asshole) “You motherf*ckers charging these babies all this money for the shoes. I had like $2,000 in my pocket and said ‘Maam, I don’t make the prices…Here ya go’ and she smacked the money out of my hand. “Why don’t you motherf*ckers make a shoe that’s afordable?…and I thought about it…You know what, she’s right. So that day I cut ties with Reebok and started my own brand. I told them to keep to keep the money, this ain’t right.”
This was a very incredible gesture by Shaq. In the end, he was able to help children get affordable sneakers, and he was still on his way to making millions of dollars from basketball and other business ventures. Shaq went on to sell these shoes at Walmart, and $200 million was earned. He also went on a $70,000 shopping spree for the kids.
