Carling Jackson is a very talented painter who has the constant requests of celebrities. She’s had amazing paintings of Jamie Foxx, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, and more.
Now, Jackson has revealed some fascinating information about recent requests for her services.
Some that we won’t even speak about here because we don’t want to take away from the amazing work she is doing.
It was her painting of Kobe Bryant that really started to gather attention.
“The best way I can think of to describe who Kobe Bryant is as a modern day philosopher of basketball and the world,” Jackson said. “He had an unrelenting drive to be the best impersonation of himself whether it be on the basketball court or off; a father, a husband, a philanthropist, a teammate, or a friend.”
The Vancouver-based artist and former soccer player says that she started painting athletes after her own competitive athletic pursuits ended. Now, she says, about 98% of her work is commissioned by professional athletes themselves.
“I often paint athletes who are heroes of mine, because of the work they did to desegregate sport, such as Jackie Robinson or those who take a stand against injustice and racism like Muhammad Ali—athletes who have changed the very fabric of the world and sacrificed so others might experience freedoms, and democratic rights.”
The work is amazing, I think you will enjoy it,
