Ex-Georgia Prosecutor Jackie Johnson Arrested For Trying to Protect Men Who Murdered Ahmaud Arbery

Many remember how 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery was shot and killed in Brunswick, GA after two white men chased him down. This was after Arbery was being accused of trespassing on a local property. The men who took his life were father and son, Greg and Travis McMichael. William ‘Roddie’ Bryan also recorded the incident.

The McMichaels went on to be indicted on nine charges, which included malice murder. According to The Daily Mail, Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney Jackie Johnson is also being charged.

A grand jury in coastal Glynn County has charged Johnson with violating her oath of office and hindering a law enforcement officer. This is due to her trying to prevent the McMichaels from being charged for killing Arbery. Greg McMichael had also worked as an investigator in Johnson’s office before.

Johnson had initially tried to defend herself, as she mentioned how she removed herself from the case due to Greg McMichael being a former employee. McMichaels and Bryan will all be heading to trial this fall.
