38-year-old Jennifer Sweeney of New Jersey had been trying to get her girlfriend, Tyrita Julius killed for a while and took various steps to disgustingly make this happen. According to The Daily Mail, she ended up killing Julius by strangling her with an electrical cord.
Sweeney went on to bury Julius in a “shallow grave.” This also came months after trying to hire someone to shoot and kill her. That failed and was reportedly set up due to Sweeney being jealous of Julius.
On September 3, a Monmouth County jury charged Sweeney with first-degree murder, first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, three related weapons offenses, second-degree desecration of human remains, and fourth-degree tampering with physical evidence.
‘The suffering endured by Tyrita Julius at the hands of someone who was supposed to care for her during the last several months of her life was unspeakable, and while today’s verdict can’t bring Tyrita back, we hope it offers some sense of solace and closure to her friends and family,’ said Prosecutor Lori Linskey.
Julius was initially shot on November 24, 2015. Then, officers from the Linden Police Department states how she was hit eight times. This resulted in her crashing into a utility pole. Julius’ 15-year-old daughter was also shot once. Julius’ mother also went missing.
Julius’ body was found in 2016 at 37-year-old Andre Harris’ home in Long Branch. In addition to being strangled with an electrical cord, she was also wrapped in two garbage bags. Harris also went on to be arrested. Harris entered a plea deal, where he testified against Sweeney in exchange for a 16-year sentence.
Sweeney faces life in prison, with no possibility of parole, and she deserves it. She will be sentenced on November 19.
