The Las Vegas Raiders are off to a 2-0 start and are looking like one of the most improved teams this year heading into Week 3. Owner Mark Davis played a huge part in where the Raiders are at right now including hiring Jon Gruden and moving his team out of a bad stadium situation into a brand new state-of-the-art stadium in Las Vegas.
Davis had a profile done on him by Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel which will premiere Tuesday night on HBO and coach Jon Gruden appears in the segment and has voiced his support for the boss while hitting back at people who always have something to say about his hair.
“I think that’s a bunch of bulls***,” Gruden said. “If you know Mark Davis, you like Mark Davis. And if you don’t, you can have your own opinion.”
“Sorry he wasn’t as experienced as some of the other owners, but he got here and he learned fast. He probably took some heat from some of those people, but he kept swinging and kept digging and kept producing and look where we are now.”
Mark Davis then touches on how proud his late father Al Davis would be about where the franchise is at and the new stadium that he’s always wanted.
“I hope he would be very, very happy and proud,” Mark Davis said about his new Allegiant Stadium and setting up the Raiders nation in southern Neveda. “But they won. We have to win. That’s where I have to get it right. He fought a lot of battles, and he was right in the battles he fought,” Mark Davis said of his father. “But sometimes you win the battles, but lose the war.
“I felt maybe it’s a little easier to get things done with sugar rather than salt. I felt like I wanted to start on a clean slate with the NFL and the other owners. I thought it was important to do that.”
