Jaheim Hoagland released seven R&B albums from 2001-2016, as he was initially signed by Naughty by Nature’s Kaygee to Divine Mill Records in 2000. He has had multiple albums go platinum, but now, serious legal issues are in his way.
According to the New York Daily News, Hoagland is being hit with animal cruelty charges after police found out he was starving 15 dogs, which resulted in one of them being euthanized. This all went down in his New Jersey home.
The dogs were eventually found in crates that were filled with feces and water, according to prosecutors. Police initially went to the house to investigate a “puppy in distress.” Six dogs were then found in the driveway. The dog that was euthanized was found to be in a crate filled with water.
“Additional dogs were found inside of separate crates which were partially filled with several inches of water and dog feces,” said prosecutors.
When Hoagland was being arrested, police found nine more dogs inside the house “in varying stages of emaciation,” as they lacked food and water. Two dogs were treated at an emergency vet clinic, as 14 of them were also sent to Long Hill Kennel in Hillsborough.
Hoagland’s full list of charges includes third-degree animal cruelty and failure to provide necessary care to an animal. He is being held at Somerset County Jail, as a court hearing date is still being scheduled.
