Ben Simmons has been the talk of Sixers trade rumors all offseason, after having one of the most horrible postseason performances of all-time. Philly hasn’t been able to work out a deal, and might hold out of training camp this month. Simmons could be fined $1.3 million for this, too.
Shaq recently spoke with Stephen A. Smith about Simmons, and didn’t hold back, on the criticism. He emphasized how he really needs to work on his game, and not spend so much time with his “actress girlfriend.” This refers to his current GF, Maya Jama.
“I like Ben. I may be a little hard on him, but I can do that. He went to LSU, my alma mater. And guess what? If he was my teammate, I’d tell him the same thing to his face. You gotta work on your game, man. Don’t be sending out tweets with you and your little actress girlfriend. I don’t want to see that. I want to see you win a championship for Philadelphia.”
Shaq told no lies here. Ben definitely needs to work on his scoring and free throw shooting the most. Many feel that if he’s still a Sixer, then their championship aspirations aren’t very realistic.
