Los Angeles has many nice areas where people wouldn’t think any serious crimes would happen. This wasn’t the case two days ago, though, as diners at a restaurant on Melrose Avenue were seen getting robbed at gunpoint, according to The Daily Mail.
This incident occurred at 5 pm on Tuesday, on the 7300 block of Melrose Avenue. A man and two women were relaxing at a table, and that’s when two masked men in hoodies came out of nowhere and demanded their personal belongings.
The restaurant was IDed as La Crème Café. Some of the items that were stolen included purses and shopping bags. This all went down within 20 seconds as well.
One of the women was seen dropping her cell phone in fear, as that was soon taken and put into one of the purses. The other robber pick-pocketed everything out of the male diner, too.
In this area, there have been said to be various crimes int this area. One incident included people being robbed of their Rolex watches in February. The next month, three men flashed a gun on a couple, who left lunch. The man was robbed, which included losing a gold necklace, per ABC 7. In August, someone was even shot, which happened due to an argument about a raffle for a pair of sneakers near a Shoe Palace store.
The LA County Sheriff’s Office stated that as of the end of July 2021, crime in LA rose 2.3% compared to 2020. 178 cases of homicides occurred from January 1-July 31 this year, as well.
