Jeezy appeared on the show Uncensored on TV One and talked about his friendship with Jay-Z and recounted how they built their friendship.
“Me and Hov, mentally we were connected because even if we weren’t making the music, we would rock with each other in a sense because we both had old souls and we both came from the same struggle,” Jeezy explained. “But the only thing is, his struggle started before mine, and he started walking his path before me. So, I have to look at somebody like that how I would look at somebody in the hood who was already getting money before I was.”
Jeezy noted that music wasn’t really the basis of their relationship and would only really come in in rare moments. Jeezy then brought up that he and Jigga had got themselves into multiple fistfights.
“A lot of people don’t know, we done been in some fistfights and everything. Some things popped off in Vegas… I gotta say, Hov’s got hands, ’cause we was getting down. We was back to back. I hear his assistant say, ‘Jay, get in the car!’ and he was like ‘I ain’t leaving Jeezy!’ I was like, I rock with him.”
The first thing people need to know about Jay Z is he’s like 6’3″, so he isn’t a small dude, and even though in interviews he seems soft-spoken, his rep in the streets was legendary.
Hov was known as a guy you didn’t mess around with it. I mean, he did stab UN in the club for being disrespectful, and this was at the height of his rap fame, so I am not surprised he was beating guys up with Jeezy in Vegas. At no point in that story did I think it would end with Hov leaving the scene of an altercation.
Can you imagine Jay-Z throwing hands with Jeezy?
