I don’t know if Jackson Mahomes knows who Sean Taylor is or what he means to the WFT fanbase. I don’t know if he knew this was the day they were retiring his number.
I hope he didn’t know because if he did, that would be incredibly insensitive to dance on the logo like that.
For clarification, the Sean Taylor #21 logo isn’t roped off for visitors. The barrier you see is for family, friends, and guests of the road team to stand before the game.
It just happened to be on the side where the Chiefs’ family and friends were at. Jackson, Mahomes’ Brittany Matthews, and Travis Kelce’s long-time girlfriend Kayla Nicole took a photo on the logo.
I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt that he didn’t mean any harm. While Mahomes’ whole family can be annoying, and Jackson did pour water on Raven fan, I don’t think he would intentionally disrespect the dead.
He was just doing his corny dancing, and that happened to be the area where they were instructed to be.
Should he had known, I can’t say. What I can say is the WFT personnel should have probably given them a heads up to move somewhere else to do their TikToks videos and Instagram photos.
Mahomes’ family is always in the middle of something, which is sad because he seems like a very nice guy, so people try not to hold it against him that his brother is lame, his fiancee is a “Karen,” and his mom is MAGA.
None of that is his fault, and when someone is your family, you have to be a ride or die. We don’t get to pick our parents or siblings. He did pick his fiancee, but to be fair, she was around when no one predicted he would be the face of the NFL and one of the best QBs in his generation.
