After a crushing defeat Saturday night to a one-win Kansas team, the Texas Longhorns may never ‘be back,’ and one fan seems to have a tough time dealing with this fact. To put into context how bad of a loss this was, the Jayhawks snapped a 56-game losing streak in the Big 12 road contest that dates back to 2008. This was their first win in Austin in the series’ history.
After the crushing defeat, one fan challenged the Longhorns’ defensive coordinator to a fight.
“If you’re on board any where PK I’ll be in Austin this week,” Rilley said. “Let’s (expletive) throw down. If I win, you get the (expletive) out of Texas and go back to the west coast. If you win, you can stay and “coach” your (expletive) two high safety defense. Spoiler alert I’m going to kick your (expletive)! (Expletive) you!
I wouldn’t resort to violence, but if I were a Texas fan, I would be upset at how the defense played too. The Jayhawks had not scored more than 35 points on the season until they dropped 57 points and over 400 yards of offense.
Yes, those Kansas Jayhawks, who sat at 1-8 on the season heading into the game, and ranked near the bottom of nearly every major statistical category in the books.
At one point, A Kansas blowout looked like a certainty. And while that did not ultimately end up being the case, the Longhorns have now lost any semblance of dignity for the 2021 season.
Texas is only two games away from a bowl game, finishing the season at West Virginia and hosting Kansas State. With Texas heading to the SEC in a few years, the road to the program’s first national title since Vince Young will not get any easier.
