Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield refused to speak with the media after their win over Detroit Lions, but then his wife Emily Mayfield did the talking for him on Instagram.
Emily Mayfield hopped on her Instagram Story and posted a post from a fan who heaped praises on his husband for his toughness while questioning his teammates.
Emily, who obviously has no balls, deleted the post, but those with fast fingers had already taken screenshots of the post and shared it on Twitter.
The deleted post read:
“No one better say anything bad about @bakermayfield after this game,” the post reads. “I don’t think I have seen toughness like this in a while. Maybe the rest of our team should take the hint and get tougher.”
Interestingly, Odell Beckham Jr. was heavily criticized for his father resharing a video of Baker either not throwing OBJ the ball or being inaccurate. Mayfield himself says he was hurt by what was posted.
“I’m prepared to do whatever,” Mayfield told reporters. “We’ll work through it, do whatever it takes. I can put my ego and pride aside to win, because that’s all I care about. But if not, then we’ll roll with the guys we have out there.”
Asked if he was hurt by the video, Mayfield answered, “Hurt? No. Surprised? Yes. There’s different things that factor into it. I’ve had conversations with his dad before, like a man, face to face. I was pretty surprised by the video and the intention and feelings behind it.”
Mayfield was also asked if he would accept an apology from Beckham. “I think any sort of conversation would go a long way,” the quarterback said.
His wife is doing the same thing, but not to just one player but the entire team.
I like Baker Mayfield. What he did to help Julius Jones not get the death penalty took some balls, but we have to keep that same energy. If you were upset at Beckham’s dad, you have to be upset at this.
